City of Rock will have another stage dedicated to music - the Tejo Stage !

04.16.2024
Rock in Rio Lisboa is 20 years old and the new City of Rock will have yet another stage dedicated to music, where new promises from the national and international scene will perform at, as well as heavy established references, synonymous with the festival's strategy of having fewer and fewer differences in the weight of names and structures on its stages, which can only be put into practice when the venue moves to Parque Tejo-Lisboa, in 2024. The Tejo Stage of Rock in Rio Lisboa, supported by Ornatos Violeta – who are bringing a very special concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of their iconic second album "O Monstro Precisa de Amigos" –, was born as a tribute to the festival's new venue, to celebrate the talent, creativity and diversity of sounds and nationalities present on stage, and behind it. The new stage will be another point of convergence for music lovers looking for the magnetism of a collective and unforgettable experience that only Rock in Rio Lisboa, in this special 20th anniversary edition, can offer.

That same spirit that emanates from Ornatos Violeta's performances, and which is experienced in the atmosphere of celebration and communion that over the last nine editions has become ingrained in the skin of everyone who has been to Rock in Rio Lisboa, promises to take the experience of giving and sharing emotions to the next level. At the 10th edition of the festival in Portugal, the band will be playing a very special concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their iconic second studio album "O Monstro Precisa de Amigos" - one of the best Portuguese rock albums ever, with big hits such as "Ouvi Dizer", "Capitão Romance", "Dia Mau" and "Chaga", with guests such as Vítor Espadinha, Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes) and the Corvos, and which was voted Album of the Year in 1999 at the Blitz Awards.

It's worth remembering that Ornatos Violeta ended their career in October 2002, after five years of great activity and national success. In 2012 - such was the enthusiasm among the new generation - Ornatos Violeta returned to the stage and sold out seven dates at the Coliseums in Lisbon, Porto and Micaelense, on the island of São Miguel. Since then, the band has played live in special occasions and major festivals because the cult lives on, fed by those who have never seen the band live and those who grew up with Ornatos Violeta. The band created by Manuel Cruz (vocals), Peixe (guitar), Nuno Prata (bass), Kinorm (drums) and Elísio Donas (keyboards) in 1991, in Oporto, has been a reference in Portugal for over 30 years and their songs are still part of radio playlists, because good songs are timeless. The Tejo Stage is theirs!
